Cha Cha: One of the fastest Latin dances, Cha-Cha makes use of quick footwork and syncopated hip actions. Its name comes from the 3 beat syncopation chasse used in all basic patterns. The modern style of dancing the cha-cha-cha derives from studies made by dance teacher Pierre Margolie, who partnered Doris Lavelle. In 1952, Pierre visited Cuba to find out how and what the Cubans were dancing. He brought this dance idea back to England and eventually created what is now known as ballroom Cha-Cha. |
